Two women who tried to allegedly traffic four female minors were arrested at the Davao International Airport.

Authorities did not identify the suspects who accompanied the four girls as they were about to fly to Luzon on April 22, 2024.

The minors were allegedly promised to work as online sellers in the morning and waitresses in the evening in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, prompting the authorities to launch the operation.

Members of the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) Mindanao Field Unit, Regional Women and Children Protection Desk-11, ASVEU-11, Sasa Police Station, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-11, Regional Anti-Trafficking Task Force-XI, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, and Philippine Center on Transnational Crime carried out the operation.

The suspects are facing charges for alleged violation of the Expanded Anti-Human Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 (RA 10364) while the rescued minors were brought to the City Social Welfare and Development Office Quick Response Team (CSWDO-QRTCC) for temporary custody and intervention.

PNP Aviation Security Group Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, lauded the preparedness and immediate response of the authorities at the Davao International Airport.

“This Group will always be prepared to prevent and arrest any perpetrators of human trafficking across all airports of the country,” Abrahano said.
