Police have arrested two fishermen for allegedly using illegal chemical for fishing in the waters of Dahican in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
The PNP Maritime Station-Mati received an information that the two fishermen were allegedly using ‘cyanide’ while fishing.
A video footage captured the fishermen concealing the chemical placed in a container.
Confiscated from them was a bottle of chlorine-like substance and assorted fish.
The two fishermen are already placed under police custody and will likely face charges for violation of the city ordinance and the Philippine Fisheries Code (RA 10654).
