Two suspects held a 36-year-old jeweler up at gunpoint in Cagayan de Oro and took from her assorted jewelry worth around P2 million.

The incident happened just as the victim and her friend were returning to their car on the national highway after visiting a client in Barangay Puerto evening on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Police said the suspects appeared suddenly on board a motorcycle and declared a holdup. One of the suspects even reportedly pointed the gun at the victim's head when the victim refused to hand her bag over.

The suspects carted away the victim’s traveling bag containing assorted jewelry worth around P2 million. The victim usually brings jewelry when meeting clients or buyers, police said.

Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, said hot pursuit and follow-up operations continue to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

“We're reminding the business sector to inform the nearest police station if ever they have a huge transaction involving valuable items or cash. Your Higalang pulis will always assist and protect the requester,” Viñas said.
