Some persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Davao City Jail Male Dormitory have reportedly contracted illnesses due to the extreme heat.

Jail warden, Supt. Erickley Louise Lazaro, said the illnesses contracted by the inmates include skin disease, asthma, and hypertension.

Lazaro assured that the jail management has the situation under control and no inmate has been taken to the hospital, so far.

The facility also has nurses on standby to provide the inmates immediate medical attention.

Due to the intense heat, the jail management extended the time during which prison cells remain open to avoid congestion.
