Six vehicles figured in a smash-up along S. Osmeña Avenue in North Reclamation Area, Cebu City at around 5 a.m. on May 10, 2024.
A CCTV footage of the incident showed that a cement mixer truck rammed onto another truck carrying live hogs. The truck in turn hit a private vehicle. The private vehicle ran up the gutter, hit and toppled a street sign. Two motorcycles were rammed by the private vehicle. Another car beside the truck that was carrying live pigs was hit by the impact.
The vehicles hit by the cement mixer were on a stop, waiting for the green light.
The driver of the cement mixer truck, identified as Elmer Gablo, a resident of Barangay Sinsin in upland Cebu City, said he lost control of the vehicle when the brakes malfunctioned.
