A college student died while six others were injured after the passenger jeepney they were riding lost its brake and tipped over in Barangay Cabanban, Balatan, Camarines Sur on May 16, 2024.
The student reportedly jumped out of the jeepney but was pinned down by the vehicle, instead.
The jeepney was on its way to Nabua town when the incident occurred on a curved portion of the road.
“Bale po na-loose break po tapos, rinampa sa riprap [si] jeep then yun na, tumagilid na yung jeep,” PSSG. Larryzel Badilla, IOC of Balatan Municipal Police Station (MPS), said.
As of this writing, the police are awaiting the decision of the student’s family whether or not they will file charges against the driver.
