The low pressure area (LPA) spotted near Southeastern Mindanao has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 5 a.m. on May 23, 2024.

State weather bureau PAGASA said it is likely to develop into a tropical depression.

Once the LPA develops into a typhoon, it will be the first in 2024.

The weather disturbance is assigned the name “Aghon."

"Aghon" is expected to dump rains in Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region by Friday, May 24, 2024. 

In the meantime, the easterlies will continue to affect most parts of the country. 

Based on Metra Weather in a report of GMA Integrated News, there is a high possibility of rain in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and Davao region.

The public is urged to be vigilant as heavy to intense rains may possibly result in flash floods and landslides.
