A ‘payong-payong’ tricycle driver was killed while two others, including an eight-month-old baby, were injured in a road crash in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
Police said the 18-year-old driver, Ivan Jay Nuevo, was driving his tricycle when he was hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) tailing behind while both were traversing the road in same direction in Barangay Astorga.
The SUV was reportedly running at a high speed until it rammed the tricycle. Because of the impact, Nuevo died on the spot after he was thrown to a fruit stand beside the road.
The SUV driver and his eight-month-old baby were also injured. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident.
