Three people died after the car they were riding crashed into a concrete barrier on the national highway in Barangay San Isidro, Luisiana, Laguna.

The car was speeding, allegedly, and veered off its lane, only to hit the concrete barrier. The impact threw the vehicle away.

Police said the passengers came from Bicol where they attended a wake. The driver may have slept behind the wheel and failed to control the vehicle because they were reportedly driving quite fast.

Felomeno Soriano Jr., Chief of the Luisiana Laguna Police Station, said.

Three of the five people in the car were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Two others, including the driver, sustained serious injuries and are recovering in the hospital.

According to police, the bodies of two of the deceased have been brought back to Camarines Norte, while the third was taken to Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.

Authorities advise motorists to get enough rest, especially before long trips, to prevent similar accidents.
