The Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Surigao del Sur has developed into Tropical Depression Aghon (TD Aghon).

In PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Bulletin Number 1 issued on May 24, 2024, the center of TD Aghon was estimated based on all available data at 340 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 4 a.m.

TD Aghon moves west northwestward at 30 kilometers per hour (km/h) with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 is up over Eastern Samar in the Visayas; and over Dinagat Islands, Siargao Islands, and Bucas Grande Islands in Mindanao.

Additional areas in Eastern Visayas and Caraga Region may be placed under Wind Signal No.1 in the next bulletin.

TD Aghon will bring moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.0 meters) over the coastal waters along the northern and eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Caraga Region.

PAGASA has advised mariners of motor bancas and similarly-sized vessels to take precautionary measures while venturing out at sea and, if possible, to avoid navigating in these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
