Chickens were attacked allegedly by wild animals in Pontevedra town, Province of Negros Occidental.

Alias “Jerry,” caretaker, said that he was about to feed the chickens when he found out of the carcasses, entrails removed.

The incident in Barangay Antipolo also stirred residents who believe that wild animals could have attacked the chickens.

According to the Provincial Veterinarian’s Office (PVO) in Negros Occidental, the incident is actually nothing new as there are wild animals that prey on chickens and livestock.

As to why guts are usually removed, the PVO said that the abdominal area of chickens, or the cavity, is easier to rip open.

To protect pets from wild animals, the PVO advised that they be kept in coops or hutches (enclosures) near the house so keeping watch would also be easier.
