A two-year-old girl was found dead at a rice field in Barangay San Pedro, Floridablanca in Pampanga.

The child’s body was found three days after she was reported missing.

Her father, Jay Arnaldo, said the last time he saw his daughter was when she was chasing him as he was leaving on board his motorcycle for work.

They could no longer find the girl when he returned home.

“Nung narinig niya motor ko, sumunod sa’kin, parang sumunod sak’in, yung dinaanan ko at dinaan niya magkaiba ang way… tapos, pagkauwi tinanong ko mother ko sabi ko nasaan ang panganay ko kanina pa hinahanap sabi niya,” he said.

Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) found the child 1.5 kilometers away from the family home.

Authorities found no indication of foul play. They said it is possible that the child simply fell into the irrigation canal at a time when water pressure was high.

“In our plain view investigation, wala naman tayong nakitang any foul play. Maaaring nadulas o naglaro sa nasabing irrigation canal at sa mga oras na iyon, malakas yung alon sa canal,” said PCol. Julius Alvaro, chief of the Floridablanca Police Station.

BODY AT SEA

Meanwhile, the body of a man, already in a state of decomposition, was found by two fishermen about nine miles off the town of Santiago in Ilocos Sur.

The body was brought to shore with the help of authorities.

No one has claimed the body, as of this writing.

“As of now, wala pa kasing nagke-claim at wala pa kasing na-report na missing,” said PMaj. Henry Garcia, chief of the Santiago Police Station.

The body was brought to the funeral parlor and the police said they intend to have it examined.

“‘Yun nga ‘yung ni-request natin na forensic examination so, i-exam ‘yung buto at saka ‘yung ngipin,” Garcia said.
