A 13-year-old girl was killed while two others were injured after a tree fell on the motorela they were riding in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental morning on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Police said the driver and the girl's 15-year-old girl sister were also injured.
The two minors were on their way to school when the incident happened.
Investigators said the motorela stopped temporarily on the side of the road to unload other passengers. After the passengers got off, the balete tree fell due to strong winds and hit the vehicle.
The three were taken to the hospital but the girl was declared dead upon arrival.
