The Anti-Colorum Task Force of Zamboanga City is intensifying its operations against colorum vehicles, including jeepneys whose operators failed to consolidate franchises under the government’s PUV modernization program.

Around 50 personnel of the Land Transportation, Franchising, and Regulatory Board (LTFRB); City Traffic Management Unit, City Traffic Operations Management; and Philippine National Police (PNP) will enforce the crackdown against colorum vehicles in the city.

“Accordingly, may directives from the higher ups to strictly enforce the anti-colorum, violations sa mga public utility vehicles na nandito sa Zamboanga City,” Police Traffic Enforcement Unit (PTEU) Head, Major Chester Natividad, said.

PTEU said LTFRB is already checking the number of colorum jeepneys that were not consolidated.

The fine for colorum jeepneys ranges from P5,000 to P10,000. The unit may also be impounded and will be brought to the impounding areas of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the city government.

“Kaso lang sa LTFRB ngayon because of the decision from the Supreme Court, according sa LTFRB, na-suspend yung adjudication sa LTFRB with regards sa franchise but sa LTO, may kailangan pa rin i-adjudicate sila. Kung i-coconform sa initial violation, wala silang magawa. Most likely, mataas kasi yung penalty per violation sa LTO. Accordingly, aabot yan ng P12,000-P20,000 kung may iba pang violations pa sila,” Natividad added.
