The personal assistant of embattled Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, has surrendered to authorities 21 firearms, magazines, and bullets.

Cresente Chavez Canada, Quiboloy’s personal assistant and incumbent chairman of Barangay Tamayong, Davao City, handed over his guns through KOJC’s legal representative, Atty. Israelito Torreon.

Torreon said Canada surrendered his firearms to deny rumors that the latter used his guns to protect Quiboloy.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao (CIDG-11) facilitated the surrender of guns, which include revolvers, pistols, rifles, and a shotgun. At least 14 pieces of 9mm ammunition and two pistol magazines were also turned over.

CIDG-11 took custody of the surrendered firearms and bullets.

Quiboloy and five others, including Canada, were accused of violating the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (RA 7610).

Canada was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) on April 3, 2024, by virtue of an arrest warrant while four others have surrendered later. The five were able to post bail.

Quiboloy remains at large, as of this writing.
