Residents of Barangay Anolid in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, are worried about potential flooding from Payas Creek due to continuous rain.

Locals are already preparing for the possibility.

"Natatakot, tapos naghahanda ng pagkain ng mga bata, tubig, at damit dahil bigla ang pagbaha," Cherylyn Cariño, a resident, said.

The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) is on alert for possible incidents.

"Ang ginagawa ng council [ay] kino-coordinate sa DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) tapos tatanggalin yung concrete pipe para mabilis yung flow ng tubig," Barangay Administrator Leandro Bianan said.

Efforts are also underway to clean drainage systems to improve water flow.

"Yung creek namin talagang malalim sa gawa din ng mga tao. Tao din ang may gawa niyan kaya bumabaw yung level niya," Bianan said.

"By next year, yan ang project ng barangay council—palaliman yan," he added.
