The top official of the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) said he is ready to face the Senate investigation in connection with the serving of arrest warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.
PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, said he will face the investigation and answer questions related to the operations honestly.
The Senate is set to conduct a joint committee public hearing and ocular inspection at the compound on Friday, September 6, 2024.
“We are always ready for any investigation that might happen,” Torre said.
“We have to answer all the questions sa Senate hearing… di pwedeng magsinungaling dyan. May ina-anticipate tayo na itatanong ni Atty. Torreon and other senators, of course. Naghahanda tayo,” he added.
Torre said he will lay down the developments of the ongoing operation during the public hearing. He is also ready to answer questions about the photos and videos showing alleged excavation at the basement of the Jose Maria College (JMC) Building.
KOJC’s chief legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon, challenged Torre earlier that they would enter the basement together with members of the media to see whether or not the police are digging at the basement.
The police operation to arrest Quiboloy entered its 13th day on Thursday, September 5, 2024, and the target personalities have yet to be found.
But Torre stands by their information that Quiboloy is still in the compound.
“Andyan si Quiboloy kasi andyan pa rin naman ang ating informant na nagsasabi sa atin. Nagkataon lang talga na ang challenge, nagse-search ang mga police, ang gulo, nililigaw… we are just tolerating them for the sake of peace of both sides… kung titingnan mo talaga, obstruction of justice talaga ang kanilang ginagawa,” Torre said.
Torreon earlier claimed that what the police are doing are illegal as they do not have a search warrant and that KOJC has the right over its own property.
Torreon added that there is an existing Temporary Protection Order that ordered the police to avoid doing things that threaten the safety, liberty, and property inside the KOJC compound.
“Your right to implement the lawful order ends when the constitutional rights of other person exists,” Torreon said.
One of the areas focused by the PRO-11 is the cathedral where the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) conducted an investigation and gathered possible evidence on Wednesday, September 4.
“Aside from the life and movement monitor na ginagamit namin sa rescue ay may rescue dogs tayo sa dalawang magkaibang pagkakataon. Pumasok ang aso kinalkal kung saan may nakikita tayong movement and life. May second na aso na dumating kumahol naman another indicator kasi rescue dog yun eh,” Torre said.
