A newborn was found beside the shower room of a private resort in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.
Beachgoers who were surprised to see the baby at a rocky portion beside the shower room rescued the child immediately.
According to a lifeguard at the resort, it is possible that the baby’s mother abandoned the child after giving birth to her in the shower room.
The lifeguard performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the baby and rushed the child to the hospital.
The resort management said the baby is now safe and will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“So karun, ang bata is healthy siya miingon ang CSWDO. Ilang giadto nila karun… mag-conduct sila og blotter ang CSWDO para ma-turn over ang bata sa DSWD,” resort supervisor, Sianon Bernales, said.
The resort management said the resort does not have a CCTV camera.
The barangay council urged those who may have seen the mother to coordinate with barangay officials.
“Nanghangyo ko sa katawhan kung naa man ing ana nga panghitabo, dapat ipahibalo dayun sa barangay para maka-assist ang aming DSWD Kay impaimbestiagran dayun namu,” Barangay Tambler Councilman Jose Diendo said.
