A woman was arrested in the town of Oton, Province of Iloilo for using alleged counterfeit money in buying items at a public market.
Personnel of Oton Municipal Police Station nabbed a woman who was accused by vendors in Oton Public Market of buying items using fake P500 bills.
The woman who claimed to be a resident of Taguig City, Metro Manila possessed reportedly nine pieces of bogus P500 bills, or a total of P4,500.
The bills were sent by the Oton Philippine National Police (PNP) to the Central Bank of the Philippines for verification.
According to the suspect referred to as alias “Jahara,” she is from Taguig City and that she arrived in Iloilo on September 18, 2024 after coming with a friend named “Arbia.”
However, when she was asked where she got the money, she could not give an answer.
The suspect, as of this posting, is placed under the custody of the Oton Municipal Police Station.
