Super Typhoon #LeonPH continues to intensify as it moves closer to Extreme Northern Luzon, bringing violent conditions to Batanes, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 11:00 p.m. on October 30, 2024, the eye of #LeonPH was located approximately 140 km east of Basco, Batanes.

The typhoon is moving northwestward at a speed of 15 km/h.

The storm currently has maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near its center, with gustiness reaching up to 230 km/h.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook:

PAGASA has warned of intense rainfall in areas affected by #LeonPH. Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan are expected to experience significant rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and landslides. Gusty conditions, enhanced by the circulation of #LeonPH, will impact regions including Bataan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Bicol.

Severe Winds:

Strong winds are anticipated in areas under TCWS No. 1 to 5, with violent typhoon-force winds expected in Batanes. The enhanced monsoon may bring strong gusts to other regions, including parts of Western Visayas and Northern Samar by tomorrow.

Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters:

Gale Warnings are in effect, with sea travel deemed risky in areas impacted by #LeonPH. Mariners are advised to avoid navigating in these conditions.

Track and Intensity Outlook:

#LeonPH is expected to continue its northwestward track and may approach or pass near Batanes by early tomorrow. It is forecast to maintain its strength over the next 24 hours, posing severe threats to Northern Luzon and its surrounding areas.
