Flooded graves and tall grass have made it challenging for visitors cleaning their loved ones’ tombs at Bonuan Boquig Public Cemetery in Dagupan City, as residents gather ahead of Undas.

"Sa ngayon, marami nang naglilinis — yung mga mahal nila sa buhay — saka itong daanan lalagyan namin ng buhangin para pagdating ng Undas, malinis," Gabriel Velasco, a cemetery caretaker, said.

Many visitors have been resourceful in navigating the flooded grounds, with some, like 67-year-old Diego Mendoza, stepping onto graves to avoid the water as they tidy family tombs.

"Susulatan ko yung pangalan niya medyo bura na, tubig na may sugat pa naman ako," Mendoza said while updating carefully the headstone of his late son, a soldier.

Minnie Dixie Maramba, another visitor, was cleaning her family’s grave early since she cannot come on Undas due to a family wake.

"Kailangan naming maglinis sa kanila kasi hindi na kami makakabalik," she said.

Police have intensified security measures to ensure safe cemetery visits.

"Binigyan ko sila ng instruction na yung focus natin dito [ay] 'yung mga public cemetery, kasi karamihan ng mga public cemeteries may mga lagusan, dapat mabantayan natin yun," PCol. Rollyfer Capoquian, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office director, said.
