A 72-year-old woman in Barangay Panacol, Aguilar, Pangasinan was stabbed to death by her 33-year-old live-in partner, allegedly due to jealousy and a dispute over debt.
The suspect, Ron-Ron Almonte Veloria, reportedly admitted to the crime.
Veloria used a 10-inch knife to attack the victim after a heated argument.
“Talagang sinabi ko sa kanya bago ko saksakin, sinabi ko sa kanya na hindi ko na kaya—hindi ko na masikmura yang pinagsasabi mo sa amin,” Veloria said.
Police investigation revealed that the argument started when the victim confronted Veloria about P13,000 she had lent him.
Jealousy fueled the confrontation further, as the victim accused him of courting a neighbor.
“They are living under one roof so lasing yung suspek at ito namang victim ay parang kinukuha niya yung naipahiram sa suspek na P13,000. Isa nating nakuha na information is selos din yung isang dahilan,” PMAJ. Mark Ryan Taminaya, Aguilar Police Chief, said.
After the incident, Veloria fled on a motorcycle but was apprehended at his residence in Bayambang during a police operation.
The victim’s family is devastated and plans to file murder charges against the suspect.
“Nakakalungkot po, siyempre biglaan yung nangyari. Hindi namin sukat akalain na ganon yung kahahantungan ng nanay ko,” Melly Soriano, the victim’s daughter, said.
