The three suspects in the slay of a pastor in Pavia town, Province of Iloilo were determined to be Indian nationals.
The Pavia Municipal Police Station confirmed that the suspects are Indian nationals, referred to locally as “Bombays" (referring reportedly to a densely populated city on India’s west coast deemed a financial center).
Douglas Jover, a pastor, 63 years old, was shot dead in Barangay Anilao, Pavia on January 10, 2025 inside his car.
Police Lieutenant Gabriel Manguera, deputy chief of police for operations of the Pavia Municipal Police Station, in an interview with GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, said that the identity of the suspects was established based on accounts of witnesses, through the motorcycles the suspects used, CCTV footages, among others.
The suspects have reportedly been operating lending businesses in and out of the city for some time, Lt. Manguera added.
The Pavia Municipal Police have pursued the angle on huge debt incurred allegedly by the pastor that led to the shooting incident.
Police are to file murder charges against the three suspects.
