A balut vendor in Davao City is facing perjury charges for pretending she was robbed, and even hurt by the robber.

The vendor went viral online after she was seen in a video with blood in her right arm as she claimed she was robbed.

Police said the female vendor told them that two men sprayed something in her eyes and stabbed her with a pen.

The vendor also reportedly said that a customer with whom she had a heated argument might have exacted revenge.

However, when investigators checked a CCTV footage, they saw that it was actually the woman who hurt herself with a blade.

She reportedly staged the supposed incident so she would have something to tell her boss as an excuse for the day’s low sales.

Her parents also reportedly got sick.

“Naa tay nakuha nga CCTV nga sentro sa iyaha nga nakita nato nga nilingkod siya sa kilid, iyang gi-blade ang iyang kaugalingon,” DCPO Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, said.

The woman has apologized but DCPO is determined to press perjury charges against her.

“Though nangayo siya’g public apology pero ang kapulisan, ang DCPO, ang Sta. Ana Police, as per instruction sa atong city director, kasuhan gyud siya og perjury under RA 11954… Eight to 10 years of imprisonment ang penalty sa perjury,” Tuazon said.
