Non-wearing of helmets and seatbelts are the leading road violations in Davao in 2024.
In 2024, personnel of the Land Transportation Office-Davao (LTO-11) apprehended more than 55,000 motorists for traffic violations.
Of this number, at least 9,000 were apprehended for not wearing a seatbelt while at least 8,000 were apprehended for not wearing a helmet.
Other motorists were apprehended for driving a colorum vehicle, driving while on the phone, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Nearly 2,000 unregistered vehicles were also apprehended, most of which were motorcycles traveling from other places.
LTO-11 said it will intensify its education campaign about traffic regulations among those who will apply for a driver’s license.
“Pinapatibay namin ‘yung nga outreach campaign namin. Nandiyan na rin yung mga lecture series,” LTO-11 Director, Atty. Ernesto Raphael Robillo, said.
The agency also requested 50 more personnel to implement traffic regulations, especially in areas where several violations are committed.
