Three Chinese nationals and three Filipinos were arrested in separate anti-illegal mining operations in Davao del Norte and Misamis Oriental.

Police arrested the three foreigners and a Filipino backhoe operator for their alleged involvement in unauthorized mining activities in Barangay Mambing, New Corella, Davao del Norte.

The suspects reportedly failed to present the required permits and legal documents that authorized them to mine in the area.

Seized during the operation were three backhoes, water pumps, and other mining equipment.

Authorities are preparing the charges to be filed against the suspects.

Meanwhile, two other men were arrested after they were caught allegedly transporting 34 sacks of minerals without permits in Manticao, Misamis Oriental.

The vehicle used to transport the minerals was also confiscated.

Operatives launched the operation after receiving information about the hauling activity of suspected minerals in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Authorities intercepted the vehicle loaded with sacks of minerals upon reaching Barangay Tuod in Manticao town.

The suspects arrested are facing charges for alleged violation of the Philippine Mining Act (RA 7942).

"Illegal mining activities not only harm our environment but also undermine the proper utilization of our natural resources. PRO10 remains steadfast in its commitment to combat these unlawful acts and bring offenders to justice,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.
