The Local Government Unit of Bacolod City (LGU) has received a complaint on the delivery of alleged pilfered fuel at the house of an employee of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The fuel is said to be from the supply of CDRRMO.
Based on details furnished by the Office of the City Mayor to GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas, the alleged pilfered fuel has reached between 20 liters and 40 liters.
“Ang specific na reklamong yan is just one of the reklamo sa DRRMO na gasoline na ginagamit for personal use,” according to Atty. Marty Go, secretary to the city mayor.
Bacolod City DRRMO Head, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, said that she already met with the executive officers and job order employees of CDRRMO summoned by the Bacolod City Legal Office in relation to the said complaint.
“That’s why dinamihan ko ang CCTV, sa loob mismo ng evacuation at sa labas. Kasi syempre, hindi naman natin makikita kaagad (ang pagnanakaw) dahil ginagawa nilang kung wala na tayo,” Pornan said.
Auditing of city government assets, including donations and prepositioned goods in the event of calamities, has also been tightened.
Pornan did not reveal the identity of the employee involved, but a report has been submitted already to the City Legal Office.
Included in the report are the other incidents of theft at the CDRRMO headquarters in Barangay Taculing.
The employee was also asked to explain his side to the complaint lodged against him.
It was further learned from Atty. Go that the alleged fuel pilferage is just one of the many complaints filed against LGU workers found to have used government resources for their personal benefits.
“There is a number of cases being investigated. Lahat nabigyan na ng notice to explain. May investigative justification report ang City Legal,” Go added.
Meanwhile, tight focus continues on the case of employees at the City Treasurer’s Office and Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office who were earlier alleged to be fixers.
“I-stop na nila, please. Otherwise they have to protect ng kanilang sarili, protect their work, uphold values of being an employee,” City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said.
