A 24-year-old man in Cagayan de Oro who threatened to spread his ex-girlfriend’s explicit photos on social media was arrested in an entrapment operation.
The woman said the suspect threatened to circulate her photos online if she would not meet with him. She reportedly wanted to break up with him but the suspect did not want to.
So, with that, through the explicit photos na nakuha ng suspek, yun ang dahilan para i-threat o nag-blackmail siya,” Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-10 Chief, Lt. Col. Casan Ali, said.
Authorities recovered the suspect’s cellphone, which contained the explicit photos of the complainant.
Police said the suspect reportedly owned up to the crime.
The suspect is facing charges for alleged violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act (RA 9995), Safe Spaces Act, Violence Against Women and Children Act, and grave threat under the Revised Penal Code.
