A nurse died while five others were injured after the ambulance they were riding plummeted into a 30-meter cliff in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.

Authorities said the ambulance was transporting a patient to Cagayan de Oro City from Pagadian City for a surgical operation.

However, the driver of the ambulance allegedly lost control of the vehicle because of the slippery road.

The area where the vehicle fell in Purok 7, Barangay Dableston is reportedly accident-prone.

“As to the initial investigation nga na-conduct sa atong kapulisan and kaning ilang pag-interview sa driver sa ambulansya, tungod kuno sa kadanlog sa maong dalan and ang mao pud nga area kung asa nahitabo ang askidente makonsidera pud na nga accident-prone area,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joan Navarro, said.

Aside from the nurse who died, five other passengers of the ambulance, including the patient, were brought to the hospital for treatment.

In his social media post, Pagadian City Mayor Sammy Co expressed his sympathies to the family of the nurse who died and assured assistance for the families of those involved in the accident.

Police are still waiting if the families of the victims will take legal action.

“As drivers, we have to be vigilant sa tanang panahon ilabi na sa atong palibot sa atong ginadrayban kung dili kita kayo swito sa dalan nga we have to maintain speed limit kay dako kana nga factor kung dili kita swito sa dalan posibilidad gyud nga muresulta kana sa aksidente,” Navarro said.
