[WARNING: SENSITIVE CONTENT]
A 14-year-old student in Cebu City sustained at least four wounds on her neck and contusions on her back inflicted reportedly by her own 18-year-old boyfriend for alleged emotional breakdown.
Alias “Lydia” was found inside a school comfort room (CR) by her cousin who reported the incident to their teachers.
The girl was rushed to the hospital afternoon on February 10, 2025.
In a follow-up operation, the Mabolo Police arrested the suspect who is a schoolmate of the victim.
The suspect kept mum about the incident, but it was learned that the girl would have wanted to break up with him. The suspect refused, and took the victim instead to an abandoned CR on the second floor of the school and slashed her neck with a knife.
School administrators could not confirm yet whether the two have a romantic relationship pending investigation.
As of this writing, the school has conducted an intervention program among students, according to Chrisren Flores, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer and school spokesperson.
The parents of the two students involved were also called to a meeting.
Meanwhile, Colonel Enrico Figueroa, director of the Cebu City Police Office, called on the public to stop spreading wrong information on social media, especially exaggerated stories about the sensitive incident.
A case for frustrated homicide will be filed against the suspect.
