Three people were killed while another was injured in a head-on collision involving a motorcab and a forward truck loaded with motorcycles in Dipolog City.

The fatalities were identified as a 32-year-old driver and his son and nephew who were both nine years old. The driver’s 14-year-old nephew is in critical condition, as of this writing, due to head injury.

Police said the driver was supposed to send his passengers to school when the accident happened.

Investigation showed that the motorcab crashed into the truck when it was trying to overtake a motorcycle.

“Hindi niya agad na-overtake-an yung single motorcycle, na-out-of-lane siya… actually, based sa narration ng driver ng truck is nag-slow down na siya to give way para maka-abante muna yung motorcycle but nag-abot sila doon sa lane ng truck, nag-head-on collision,” Dipolog City Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Edwin Verson, said.

The truck driver was taken into police custody.

Both parties are trying to reach an agreement, as of this writing.
