Police officers in Davao City will not be transferred to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

DCPO made the clarification after reports spread on social media that 238 personnel from Davao City will be transferred to BARMM for the 2025 midterm elections.

DCPO added that based on the memorandum, the 238 police officers will undergo medical evaluation to assess if they are still fit physically and mentally for deployment in the upcoming elections.

“Ang Davao City Police Office wala tay reassignment sa atong mga pulis diri to BARMM. Atong giklaro ang katong memo nga iyang giingon nga nakuha gikan sa Davao City Police Office, ang subject ato kay for medical evaluation,” DCPO Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon, said.

In a statement, DCPO clarified that the medical examination is part of DCPO’s routine wellness and health program to ensure that all officers are in good shape and are fully capable of carrying out their duties.

The medical examination is scheduled on February 19, 2025.

“Ugmang adlawa during the medical evaluation, kung kailangan nga naay dili ideploy gumikan sa ilang health, so, magpadayon sila sa ilang paper works during the election time. Atong iklaro nga walay reassignment, only deployment for the national and local elections,” Tuazon added.

Most of the more than 2,000 personnel of DCPO will be deployed to different police stations in the city during elections.

“Kung deployment, madeploy lang ka sa isa ka event. Like katong Saturday, madeploy sa Davao del Norte. After ana, balik napud ka diri,” Tuazon said.
