The Philippine Army conducted the "Katihan" Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) in the mountainous area of Capas, Tarlac.

During Battle Period 2, the exercise featured the 155mm Autonomous Truck Mounted howitzer System (ATMOS) self-propelled howitzer, Sabra light tanks, mortars, and individual weapons used by the 17th and 102nd Infantry Battalions.

The live-fire drills took place at Camp Edwin Ravine Airbase, ensuring safety protocols were followed.

Brig. Gen. Michael Logino said the exercise enhances the Army’s capability in mobile warfare, integrating infantry, artillery, and armored units.

“Any armor platform provides you the advantages of speed, firepower, and protection. These are essential capabilities that you need, especially when you're going into mobile warfare. So they are lethal in both the offense and also on the defense,” Logino said.

The training also included subject matter expert exchanges with allied forces deployed across Asia.

“They are here. They are advising us. We also provide subject matter expert exchanges between them and our units,” he added.

Aside from Katihan, the Philippine Army has lined up more joint military exercises with foreign allies this year to further enhance combat readiness and interoperability.
