Pro-Duterte groups gathered in front of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol to express their staunch support to erstwhile President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Rallyists sang “Bayan Ko (My Country),” one of the most recognizable patriotic songs in the Philippines, and lighted candles on March 12, 2025. They said they pray that Duterte would hurdle circumstances with grace after his arrest by the International Police (Interpol) in relation to alleged crimes against humanity.
Duterte, as of posting time, is already in the International Criminal Court detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.
The Ilonggo Movement for Freedom and Peace has mulled on staging a larger rally but is yet to coordinate with other groups.
In Bacolod City, residents gathered at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds on March 12, 2025 for a solidarity rally and noise barrage.
Groups of motorcycle riders honked horns in participation to the rally.
Prior to this, the Bacolod City Police Office said that rallyists are allowed only at the Bacolod Plaza and that a permit is necessary. However, the lightning rally on March 12, 2025 pushed through as Duterte supporters initiated the call online.
The organizer is contemplating reportedly on another rally that would request for the return of Duterte into the country.
