The authorities have focused tightly on about three persons of interest in the slay of a Slovak national in Boracay Island, Malay town, Province of Aklan.

The body of 23-year-old Michaela Mickova was found in an abandoned chapel in Barangay Balabag afternoon on March 12, 2025, after she was reported missing since March 10, 2025.

Col. Mar Joseph Ravelo, chief of Malay Municipal Police Station, said.

The victim was described to be friendly and fond of socializing with residents and other tourists in Boracay.

She arrived in Boracay on March 1, 2025, to attend the wedding of her Filipina friend, according to Malay Police.

Police have already reviewed CCTV footages wherein Mickova was seen heading for the chapel alone, about a kilometer away from the hotel where she stayed.

Other information based on details in the footages are withheld pending release of autopsy results.

Inventory of the victim’s personal belongings recovered from the crime scene is ongoing, as of this writing, to determine if certain items are missing.

Following the incident, security in the area where the body was found, and other secluded areas in the island frequented by other tourists are tightened.

We also deployed intelligence officers para ma-check ang ganoong mga area,” Ravelo said.

Further, the Malay Police have reached out to the victim’s boyfriend who has not issued a statement yet, as of posting time.
