Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) arrested two women who allegedly posed as real estate agents and sold agricultural lots illegally in Toril, Davao City.

The two suspects were arrested in an entrapment operation outside a mall in Bajada.

NBI-11 said the suspects did not have a license and authority to sell lots.

“Ito hindi mga licensed broker or agents they don’t have license at all and they do nit have authority from the rightful owner of the property,” NBI-11 Director, Atty. Arcelito Albao, said.

One of the complainants reportedly began to suspect the two when they presented a fake Special Power of Attorney (SPA) allegedly issued by the landowner for a 7,000-square-meter property in Atan-Awe in Barangay Baracatan.

However, the complainant had already paid P310,000 to the suspects.

The complainant managed to contact the landowner and confirmed that she was scammed.

“First nako pagkakita sa SPA naka-notarize wala nako napansin na wala pa lang selyo nakahatag nako og P310, 000,” complainant, Hanna Badayos, said.

Another complainant also gave the suspects P1.7 million for a 2.3-hectare property in the same barangay.

The suspects are facing charges for estafa and alleged violation of the Real Estate Service Act (RA 9646).

They have not issued a statement, as of this writing.

“To all agents na walang license na nagbebenta and engaging into transactions sa real estate na wala namang authority coming from the government or from the DHSUD stop this kind of activity kasi illegal ito, ilicit. The NBI will not stop arresting them,” Albao said.
