The Cebu City Government has placed a public school in Barangay Buhisan under "state of emergency" after large cracks, especially at the office of the principal, are apparent.

Ramil Ayuman, chairperson of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC), said that Buhisan Elementary School is under a state of emergency after a meeting with stakeholders morning on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

CCDRRMC based the declaration on the finding of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7.

The Office of the Building Official (OBO) averred that the area where the school stands, including its surrounding areas, poses high risk to learners and their teachers.

Earlier, Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia vowed a relocation site for the school.

While waiting for the relocation, the school administrator is advised of a shift to modular learning to avert disruption of classes.
