A tricycle collided with a truck, killing a 31-year-old father and injuring his partner and their two-year-old child in Barangay San Julian, Malasiqui, Pangasinan on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
The family was riding a 'kulong-kulong (motorized tricycle) when a mixer truck reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle.
This caused the tricycle to veer into the opposite lane and crash into an oncoming truck.
The impact pinned the victims inside the vehicle.
Jomar Rubion, 31, died on the spot. His live-in partner and their child were rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment, as of this writing.
Authorities have placed the truck driver under police custody.
"As of now, i-file muna namin 'yung kaso. Kung halimbawa magkaroon sila ng arrangement, bahala sila, doon na sa korte sila mag-usap-usap, sa fiscalya o sa korte sila mag-usap," PLTCOL. Junmar Gonzales, Officer-in-Charge of the Malasiqui Police Station, said.
The drivers have refused to issue statements about the incident.
Jordan Lopez, the victims' relative, said discussions are underway to settle the damages.
"Ano na lang, aareglohin na lang daw... lahat daw, lahat ng danyos, pati sa hospital, 'yun 'yong pinag-uusapan," he said.
