Personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 inspected the security measures imposed at bus and public utility vehicle terminals, and Cebu City ports in line with the expected influx of passengers beginning Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

The inspection on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, was led by Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan.

The inspection also saw the presence of personnel from other government agencies.

Maranan first inspected the security measures at the entrance of the Cebu South Bus Terminal. The presence of K9 units has been assured to avert the entry of contraband in the terminal.

Maranan embarked on passenger buses and checked randomly the licenses of bus drivers. He had a quick chat with bus drivers and passengers to check on how they are feeling, reminding them of the importance of a sound body when traveling.

Further, he checked on the assigned police personnel at the bus terminal. He also inquired about the expected volume of passengers that would flock at the terminal and the contingency plan should a surge of passengers be observed.

PRO 7 has coordinated with the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) on the stringent measures imposed at ports. Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel further assured the public of stringent policies to avert entry of contrabands at ports.

A moderate volume of passengers was observed morning to noontime at bus terminals and ports on April 15, 2025.

Maranan distributed packs containing water, snack items, coffee, medicines, and vitamins to personnel of the Philippine National Police, PCG, and other agencies helping each other maintain peace, order, and safety in the observance of the Holy Week.

As of posting time, the CPA said no shipping company has informed them yet of a fully-booked status. Since April 13, 2025, around 12,000 passengers have passed through the ports of Cebu City, but the influx is expected by early afternoon on April 16, 2025.
