Two call center agents in Iloilo City were mauled by yet unidentified perpetrators in separate incidents.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) video showed that two motorcyles stopped by the roadside in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao District in Iloilo City. Later on, the men on board the motorcycle were seen beating up a person in the area.

The victim, alias “Echo," was seen slumped on the ground.

The incident happened while “Echo” was on his way home past 4 a.m. on April 23, 2025.

"Nag-try rin ako na tumakbo pero naabutan nila ako kasi nasipa nila ang aking paa. Nang natumba na ako, kinuha na nila ang mga gamit ko. Nakita ko nga na may kutsilyo pa ang isang lalaki,” Echo said.

After over an hour, another call center agent identified as a certain “June” was mauled at the Diversion Road in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao.

According to "June," he was waiting for a jeepney bound for home after his work shift when three men on board a tricycle accosted him.

"Ang isang tao, doon na siya nag-start na suntukin ako sa ulo. After niyan, dalawa na sila hanggang naging tatlo na sila. Pinagtulungan nila ako. Hindi ko nga lang nakita ang kanilang mukha dahil pinu-protect ko rin ang face ko. Nagulat na lang ako na maraming dugo na sa bibig ko,” June narrated.

The two call center agents believe they were victims of “tripping” (trouble inflicted on others by people intoxicated by alcohol or under the influence of illegal drugs).

"Mga kabataan, around 15-18 years lang siguro,” Echo said.

“May isa siguro sa kanila na legal age kasi the way sila na manamit, hindi naman talaga parang isang young adult or adult. Parang mga minor,” June said.

According to the police, the suspects are possible members of a gang, and that the persons who waylaid the two are of same group.

"May posibilidad na ang nag-tripping sa ating mga biktima is the same rin or kasama rin doon sa ini-report ng mga residente, said Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Following the two incidents, ICPO Director, Colonel Kim Legada, ordered to have police deployment intensified and to have the investigation monitored tightly.

As of this writing, the identities of the perpetrators have not yet been determined.
