The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has begun expanding the passenger terminal building at the Davao International Airport.

The project, which started three months ago, covers a floor area of approximately 8,000 square meters.

The construction of the P700-million project is expected to be completed by November 2026. Once finished, it aims to accommodate the growing number of passengers at the airport, particularly for international flights.

CAAP-Davao manager, Engr. Rex Obcena, said the expansion hopes to attract more international airline operators.

“It is hoped to encourage more international operators to come in plus the fact if I am not mistaken the project would also add 700 passengers at any given time at int’l sa atong pre-departure area,” Obcena said.

The expansion is also expected to provide additional space for businesses and other facilities inside the airport.

“Of course, plus added facilities like more concession spaces and more spaces for the provision of customs, immigration and quarantine which are very crucial and critical sa pag-accommodate nato og mga int’l flights,” Obcena added.
