The government is boosting public transport capacity for the holiday rush as the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) released around 1,500 special permits for passenger buses this Christmas season.
The LTFRB said the special permits will take effect from December 15 to January 16, 2026, to help meet the high demand for travel during the holidays.
The agency added that more Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) units are also being deployed in airports to serve passengers arriving and departing during peak days.
Earlier, the Department of Transportation ordered the LTFRB to penalize strictly taxi and TNVS drivers who refuse passengers or cancel booked trips because of traffic or far destinations.
