Good news for moviegoers who want to pay the ‘island of fireflies’ a visit as award-winning “Firefly” gets additional cinemas nationwide, days after bagging home three awards including the highly coveted Best Picture at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
A total of 133 theaters all over the Philippines are now showing “Firefly,” a fantasy-journey film produced by GMA Public Affairs together with GMA Pictures, according to the latter’s most recent update.
Some of the newest screens showing “Firefly” are Robinsons Ilocos, Robinsons Calasiao (Pangasinan), Robinsons Santiago (Isabela), KCC General Santos, KCC Zamboanga, and KCC Marbel (South Cotabato).
Starting today, January 2, Fora Mall Tagaytay, SM City Cauayan (Isabela), SM City Calamba (Laguna), SM City Marikina, SM City Olongapo Central, SM City Sta. Rosa (Laguna), and Vista Mall Las Piñas have also included the MMFF 2023 Best Picture in their lineup of movies.
In total, “Firefly” is now being shown in 54 screens all over Luzon, 14 in Visayas, 17 in Mindanao, and 48 in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Zig Dulay-directed film also won the Best Screenplay (Ms. Angeli Atienza) and Best Child Performer (Euwenn Mikael) plums during the recently concluded MMFF ‘Gabi ng Parangal.
