The Philippines’ Jamesray Mishael Ajido, a standout in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), won gold in 100m butterfly in the 11th Asian Age Group Championship at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Tarlac.

He clinched the gold medal in 55.98 seconds, overtaking the record set by China in 2019.

Placing second is Japan while placing third is China.

Ajido, 15, is a Grade 8 student. Earlier, he won bronze in the 50m freestyle at 24.34.

Ajido is a double-gold medalist in NCAA Season 99.

The Asian Age Group Champion runs from February 26 to March 9, 2024.

According to the event’s official website, the champions also serve as qualifiers for the Paris Olympics.
