Around 30 professional downhill skateboarders from different parts of the Philippines gathered to showcase their skills at the Downhill Skateboarding Competition held in Barangay Matacong, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Camarines Norte.

The event, which was part of the First Sighid Festival celebration, aimed to highlight the potential of the area in hosting downhill skateboarding events. 

Following the successful event, the local government hopes to strengthen tourism and the economy of the barangay.

”Sabi ko, this is the time na maging tourist friendly [dito], yun po ang gusto kong mangyari dito sa komunidad namin, “ Rene Salamero, the Barangay Captain, said.

The organizers are optimistic about the future, and aim to expand the event to accommodate more skateboarders from across the nation.

”Maganda po kasi through this event na-measure po namin na kaya pa natin i-level up yung downhill skateboarding to the international competition,” John Baldorado, the organizer, said.

Bry Buenavista from Lopez, Quezon won as the champion in Category A, while Elmer Mapala from Baler, Aurora emerged as the champion in Category B.
