San Beda and Perpetual are off to a winning start after winning their respective assignments on day two of the NCAA Season 100 Juniors Basketball tourney, while San Sebastian and LPU fall to 0-2.

JRU Light Bombers vs LPU Junior Pirates
JRU won, 67-64.

The JRU Light Bombers enter the win column after sinking the LPU Junior Pirates following an all-around performance by James Almario who scattered 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 dimes, and 3 steals. 

Lee Marin and AJ Lacusong also helped the cause for the Nani Epondulan-coached squad with 12 markers apiece, effectively neutralizing the 28-point monster game of LPU’s Lamarcus Pelayo. 

JRU improved to 1-1, while the Junior Pirates fell to 0-2. 

Mapúa Red Robins vs Letran Squires
Mapúa won, 81-73.

Taking on the defending NCAA Juniors champions after losing an opening day heartbreaker to Perpetual was no easy task, but Mapúa stayed the course to score a massive upset.

After trailing by 15 at the half, the Red Robins clawed their way back and outscored the Squires in the second half to send the game into overtime. Mapúa cashed in on Ruzzel Del Poso’s ignition from long distance, as he went ‘Curry’ mode with nine triples, tallying 31 total points coupled with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Both teams now have a 1-1 win-loss record.

CSB-LSGH Greenies vs Perpetual Junior Altas
Perpetual won, 92-88.

The Perpetual Junior Altas was looking for a wire-to-wire victory against the CSB - La Salle Greenhills Greenies– leading by 16 at one point in the fourth quarter– but eventually settled for a slim win after an LSGH uprising. 

Jericho Cristino emerged as the team’s top performer with 21 points and 9 boards, but not without the help of such a deep roster led by Jan Roluna (16p, 7r, 5s), Lebron Jhames Daep (14p, 12r, 2s), and Jim Corpuz (10p, 4r, 3a). 

The last year’s finalists are now 2-0 in their Season 100 campaign, while the Greenies have a 1-1 tally.

EAC Brigadiers vs Arellano Braves
EAC won, 87-71.

The EAC Brigadiers avenged a nail-biter loss on opening day with a dominant showing against the Arellano Braves, banking on stellar performances by Kelly Coronel, EJ Castillo, Ian Cuajao, and Gedrick Luna. 

Coronel, adjudged as the game’s best player, filled up the stat sheet with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 3 dimes, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He also went near-perfect from the freebie line (8/9). Castillo dropped 16, Cuajao chipped in 14, while Gedrick Luna was a double-double machine with 10 markers and 11 boards.

EAC improved to 1-1, while the Braves absorbed their first loss of the season after winning their opening assignment. 

San Beda Red Cubs vs San Sebastian Staglets
San Beda won, 69-64.

The San Beda Red Cubs secured a 2-0 start in their #NCAA100 Juniors Basketball campaign after a tightly contested win over the San Sebastian Staglets.

Despite struggling from the field, MJ Vailoces proved to be the difference-maker for the red and white, scattering 11 points and grabbing 13 boards to go along with 3 assists and 4 steals. Andrei Ugaddan led all scorers with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Laurence Batongbakal poured in 13.

San Sebastian have dropped to 0-2 following the loss.
