Outdoor games such as swimming and football, among others, in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2025 in the Province of Antique were postponed because of the hot weather condition.
According to Department of Education (DepEd) 6, no outdoor games will be carried out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A few sporting activities will be moved to covered or indoor venues.
Medical personnel and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) personnel are on standby in different venues.
As of this writing, there were no reported incidents of fainting spells or ill conditions raised by the athletes and their coaches.
Meanwhile, the Province of Iloilo has overtaken Negros Occidental on the top spot.
According to DepEd 6, Iloilo has a total medal haul of 247, Negros Occidental has 202, while Aklan has 95 medals in elementary, secondary, and paragames categories.
“We are protecting them in ensuring that they are okay while they are here in Antique and number one priority is ang health sang athletes natin,” Hernani Escullar, DepEd 6 spokesperson, said.
