The San Beda Red Lions led for the majority of the ballgame before the Chiefs came alive and pulled off a 13-0 late in the third quarter. Arellano was able to complete the turnaround and start the fourth quarter with the lead, 57-53.

The exciting back-and-forth action did not disappoint as the game went down-the-wire.

Arellano’s senior shooting guard, Jade Talampas, who hails from Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, made the heroics for the Sampaloc based squad.

Talampas hit a back-to-back triple with 5.9 seconds left in the fourth and final canto to give the Chiefs a two-point cushion and finished the game with 18 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

Jomel Puno had the chance to extend the game to overtime when he managed to escape from Arellano’s double team and drove to the paint but Arellano’s defense made it hard for Puno to convert his layup.
