De La Salle College of St. Benilde guard Miguel Oczon decided to turn pro and forgo his remaining years with the Blazers after signing with Korean Basketball League club Ulsan Hyundai Mobis, Benilde coach Charles Tiu confirmed to GMA Regional TV News.

“We have had many conversations about it even before the season and he will be realizing a dream to play as an import in a foreign country…I am happy and excited for him," Tiu bared.

The Davao City native helped the Blazers return to the finals after two decades in the Season 98 before dragging Colegio de San Juan de Letran to a do-or-die game three.

In Season 99, Oczon was pivotal for the Blazers in their final four run averaging 13.37 points per game while grabbing 4.79 rebounds and 2.68 dimes per game.

“His hard work has definitely paid off. We will be sad to miss him but are excited and fully support him,” Tiu said.

Oczon’s outside shooting and high basketball IQ will be a huge addition for Ulsan Hyundai Mobis’ KBL campaign moving forward.

“He is a good system player and will fit in their system, he can bring some shooting and some much needed depth in their guard spot, as they have some injuries in that position. He will be playing some point guard also, so they have a high IQ guy in him, Tiu added.

He will join fellow NCAA alums in the KBL in former Letran Knights and Season 97 rookie-MVP Rhenz Abando who plays for Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters and former Blazer Justin Gutang who plays for Changwon LG Sakers.
