Chesca Kramer's tips on growing your own vegetable garden

By Aedrianne Acar

Clueless on how to start your own vegetable garden?

Well, award-winning documentarist Kara David gave a ton of home gardening tips and information on the pilot episode of her new program Bright Side last Tuesday, July 21 on GMA News TV.

Kara got the chance to interview showbiz couple Chesca and Doug Kramer about their very own vegetable garden. They even dished out tips on how they take care of their plants.

Doug told Bright Side, “We moved last June (2019) and it's been one year. And one of the reasons we actually moved out here is because of nature and Chesca took the lead in making our vegetable garden.”

Chesca described building a vegetable garden as a sort of relationship.

She noted, “Ngayon na nakalipat kami na closer to nature, mas malaki 'yung land namin, we were able to do that.

Growing your own vegetable garden is like you're in a relationship. So first you have to be really committed, you have to be consistent, patient.”

The celebrity mom also added that the internet is a great way for newbie plantitos and plantitas to learn more about gardening.

Chesca explained, “Kung mahilig kayo mag-hangout sa internet at mag-Facebook, madaming Facebook groups doon na puwede n'yo tanungin or puwede n'yo basahin ang kanilang mga experiences.

“And of course you can Google, you can watch YouTube and just for PhP 25 or PhP 75 packet of vegetables, ang dami n'yo nang mapapakain.

“So, try it out and remember there are no mistakes, just experiments in gardening.”

Doug and Chesca tied the knot in 2008. They have three kids named Kendra, Scarlett, and Gavin.

In 2019, Doug decided to retire from professional basketball.
